Our Journey
I first started making resin crafts as a hobby near the end of 2023. I was struggling with my mental health and due to this was unable to be in school so used doing resin as something to focus on and distract myself as well as having an outlet to get creative. I have always loved doing art and being creative, and making resin creations was perfect as there is endless patterns, designs and projects you can do with resin. I loved experimenting with different designs and techniques and the more I did resin, the more ideas for new products and creations I came up with. As I started to make more and more resin, I started thinking about the idea of setting up my own online business. At first, the idea of starting a small business was both exciting and daunting but the more ideas I came up with, the more I knew starting a small business was exactly what l wanted to do. And from there Colour Drops was made!
When coming up with new product ideas, I wanted them to not only look beautiful, but also have a purpose and use. As someone who has challenges with certain products -such as textures of products or skin sensitivity with jewellery- I wanted everyone to be able to use my products no matter if they have some of the same struggles. I have tried to make sure that the jewellery I sell (specifically earrings) are the least reactive, with the earrings being plastic-backed to prevent any reactions you may normally get with metal earrings. As I explained earlier, I have struggled with my mental health and having anxiety so I made the worry bears as I found the smooth texture so calming and their size perfect to fit and hold in your pocket. These are just a couple examples of how I have specifically adjusted and come up with products to make them more suited for people to use and enjoy without anything restricting them.
Something that I really wanted to include when starting my store was donating to local charities to help raise support for them. I wanted to make products that linked to the charities in some way. The charity that I am raising money for at the moment is Fritton Owl Sanctuary where 15% of owl figure sales go to them. I wanted to donate to local charities to provide support for them in the hopes that the funds can help go towards keeping them open and able to provide the best care/support to their cause. I hope to grow and donate to more charities in the future :)
I am excited to progress and grow as a small business, and will keep coming up with new products to create and sell in the future. There are products for everyone and I hope you love them as much as I do. Some products can be personalised, just send a message and get in touch and we can discuss details.
I hope you love everything and thank you for supporting my small business! :)
